When to use each search mode
Starts with works when you know the opening letters. Ends with is ideal for suffixes such as ED, ER or LY. Includes letters finds words that contain certain letters in any order, which suits anagram-style clues. Letters in order keeps the sequence you type but allows gaps, which helps when a crossword gives you scattered letters.
Combine clues for sharper results
Every clue you add removes impossible words. Fixed positions pin letters to exact spots, the include field adds required letters and the exclude field removes letters that are ruled out. Start with the clues you are surest about and add more until the list is short enough to scan.
Choosing the right word length
The length menu opens a dedicated page for that length, from 2-letter words up to 15-letter words, each with its own statistics and letter-by-letter lists. 5-letter words, the most popular length for Wordle-style games, live on the home page.
Questions
Can I use blanks?
Yes. Leave unknown positions empty in the fixed-position boxes, or use the Pattern Word Finder with underscores.
Are searches case sensitive?
No. Type letters in upper or lower case.
Is the word list official?
It comes from a general English dictionary expanded with common endings, so it is not an official tournament list. Check your game's own rules for disputed words.
